EXHIBITION "FOLK GAMES AND TOYS" GUEST SLOVENIAN
On the occasion of European Heritage Day, on Wednesday, October 1, in the beautiful surroundings of the Strmol Castle in Rogatec, the guest exhibition of the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec - "Folk Games and Toys", authored by Anita Paun-Gadža, museum advisor and museum manager, was officially opened.
The exhibition shows the world of children's games from the late 19th and early 20th centuries - a time when pebbles, sticks, chestnuts and nuts were the most fun props!
Children's games followed the seasons, and toys were made from wood, old fabrics and household materials. Later, they were made by small craft workshops and sold at fairs.
After the opening, a creative workshop "Color your toy" was held under the guidance of museum pedagogue Mateja Harapin, who encouraged children to engage in imaginative play and expression through creation.
At the opening, the following welcomed the attendees: Nives Brezovnik, senior advisor and manager of the Rogatec Open-Air Museum, Anita Paun-Gadža, author of the exhibition, and Anamarija Tepeš, from the Department of Social Affairs of the Municipality of Rogatec, who officially opened the exhibition.
The exhibition can be viewed until December 1, 2025.
