Man and Nature. Croatian Zagorje in the Modern Age
On the occasion of European Heritage Day, the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec will open the exhibition of the Museum of Peasants' Revolts, "Man and Nature. Croatian Zagorje in the Modern Age" by Lidija Kelemen on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 6 p.m.
In the modern age, the earth remained the source of the greatest wealth. Man has changed it in various ways throughout history. However, time and climate remained the only natural factors that man could not influence. The exhibition presents the transformation of the environment in the modern age in Croatian Zagorje through seven thematic units, the influence of nature on the environment, the anthropization of the environment, the Little Ice Age, forests in the modern age, the relationship between settlements and the environment, pictorial representations of settlements and the environment, and the relationship between folk beliefs and the environment. The relationship between man and nature is presented through numerous pictorial materials (views, graphics, postcards, maps), a multimedia model, written sources and objects of use.
The exhibition encourages visitors to develop awareness of the value of preserving natural heritage and the impact of nature on human daily life, and will remain open until December 8, 2024.
