Museum educationalist presented educational programs of the Museum of Croatian Zagorje at the 8th international conference "Schools and Museums" in Nova Gorica

From 10 to 12 April 2025, in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, the international conference Schools/kindergartens and museums/galleries was held on the topic of Contemporary Challenges in the Theory and Practice of Museum Pedagogy. The conference has been organized by EDUCA izborežaje for the eighth year in a row.
As part of the rich conference program, employees of the Museum of Croatian Zagorje, Mateja Harapin from the Museum "Staro selo" Kumrovec, Josipa Pavlović Požgaj from the Museum of Peasants' Revolts, and Nikolina Ileković, Mirjana Biljan and Lorka Lončar Uvodić from the Museum of Krapina Neanderthals, presented interesting educational programs and approaches to learning and teaching as examples of good practice. The presentations were part of different sections of the program covering a wide range of topics, such as connecting curricula and museums, cross-curricular connections in schools and museums, the role of museums in shaping identity, and contemporary museum-pedagogical approaches and the special nature of museum-pedagogical didactics. Developing the critical thinking of children and young people, social inclusion of vulnerable groups, and constructivism in museum pedagogy are just some of the topics that were discussed the most.


Conference participants from MHZ, in Nova Gorica, which has been declared the European capital of culture, also visited the Nova Gorica Municipal Gallery, the Nova Gorica Tactile Gallery and the Goriška Museum, the Kostanjevica Monastery, the Museum on the Border, and also the excellent Andy Warhol exhibition at the Provincial Museum of Gorica in Italy.
